“The Sub-Saharan African Jewish Alliance is born.”

The goal of the Sub-Saharan African Jewish Alliance (SAJA) is to unite Jewish leaders from across the continent to discuss issues that affect all Jews in Africa, find solutions to those issues together, build lasting relationships with one another, and advocate for the rights of Jews in the media and in government.

The conference had the feeling of a joyous reunion of people scattered through many countries. Those from the United States and Israel felt a strong bond of peoplehood with our African friends. We felt that the ties of shared lifestyles and beliefs united us as one.
December 30th, 2022
Sub-Saharan African Jewish Alliance was founded this month, with the goal of facilitating ties among the continent’s Jewish groups. The organization will include representatives from Tanzania, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Cameroon.
